A delicate biennial vine native to damp, cool, shaded woods. First year forms a fern-like leafy rosette; the second year it climbs using leaf tendrils, bearing pendulous clusters of pale pink, tear-shaped flowers resembling bleeding hearts. Prefers wind-sheltered, rich shade.
