Bottlebrush Buckeye
Aesculus parviflora
A suckering buckeye that lights up summer shade with foot-tall white flower spikes. One of the best native shrubs for dry shade under high canopy. Like other buckeyes the seeds are rich in saponins and toxic raw, so treat the polished nuts as a curiosity rather than a food.
