An exceptionally beautiful and unique native milkweed that naturally grows in sandy woodland openings, glades, and edges. Bears compact, spherical flowerheads of starry white blossoms highlighted by deep reddish-purple centers. Unlike most milkweeds, it is highly shade-tolerant.
