Wyoming Indian Paintbrush
Castilleja linariifolia
Wyoming’s state flower, taller and airier than most paintbrushes, with thread-fine leaves and scarlet bracts scattered up a wiry stem. Sagebrush country plant: it parasitizes big sagebrush and other shrubs, so plant it into an existing dryland planting rather than bare ground.
