Greater Fringed Gentian
Gentianopsis crinita
Electric blue four-petaled flowers with deeply fringed edges, opening in autumn when the rest of the meadow has gone over. A biennial of wet calcareous meadows that never transplants and must be sown where it will grow, which is why it is admired far more often than it is cultivated.
