Bigelow's Sneezeweed
Helenium bigelovii
Bigelow's sneezeweed is a western perennial of wet meadows with bold golden daisies around a dark domed center, a showy, long-blooming native for consistently moist, sunny ground and a fine cut flower. Like other Helenium species, this plant contains helenalin and related sesquiterpene lactones — the same toxin behind documented "bitterweed poisoning" in livestock. Not a food.
