Bluntleaf Waterleaf
Hydrophyllum canadense
A lush, large-leafed woodland perennial with bold, maple-like lobed leaves that often showcase silver mottling. Bears dense, globose clusters of hairy, bell-shaped white-to-lavender flowers in late spring. An excellent, weed-smothering groundcover for moist shade. Young leaves make a delicate cooked potherb, best harvested before they turn bitter with age; the root has served as food in times of scarcity.
