Yellow Anise Tree
Illicium parviflorum
Yellow anise tree is a dense, fast evergreen shrub with aromatic, anise-scented olive-green leaves and small yellow flowers, superb for shade screening in moist Southeastern gardens. Despite the scent it is not the culinary star anise: the essential oil is poisonous and the fruit is poisonous in quantity.
