Barbados Cherry
Malpighia glabra
Barbados cherry (wild crapemyrtle) is a south Texas shrub with delicate pink flowers much of the year and tart, vitamin-C-rich red cherries loved by birds and people. Drought-tolerant and ornamental. The tart, vitamin-C-rich cherries are a genuine fruit crop, eaten fresh or made into juices, sauces, jams, and wine.
