Parkinsonia texana
Texas palo verde is a green-barked, spiny large shrub or small tree of south Texas, glowing with yellow flowers in spring and drought-proof on hot, dry sites. Unlike most legumes, Parkinsonia doesn't nodulate, so it adds no nitrogen to the soil.
