Common Butterwort
Pinguicula vulgaris
A butterwort: the flat yellow-green rosette is greasy to the touch, and that film is the trap — gnats stick to the leaf surface, which slowly curls to digest them. Violet flowers rise on bare stalks. Northern and cold-loving, resting as a bud through winter.
