Guayacan
Porlieria angustifolia
Guayacán is a slow, gnarled evergreen of the Texas brush country, with tiny paired leaflets that fold shut at night and in drought. Clusters of violet-blue flowers follow rain at almost any season. The wood is famously dense and the plant almost impossible to kill by neglect — a specimen for gardeners with patience. Still widely listed as Guaiacum angustifolium.
