Ohio's only native climbing rose. Trailing-arching canes can scramble 15 ft up a structure or sprawl as a thicket. Single five-petaled pink flowers fade to white; bright red hips in fall. Surprisingly disease-resistant. As with any rose hip, strain out the fine seed hairs first, since they can irritate the mouth and digestive tract.
