Armed with hooked 'catclaw' thorns, this desert legume offers fragrant cream flower spikes for bees and dense thorny cover for wildlife. A tough nitrogen-fixer of washes and slopes. Like mesquite, the pods and seeds are a traditional ground-flour food.
