Paradise Tree
Simarouba glauca
A fast upright shade tree with large glossy compound leaves, blue-green and paler beneath, that hold well through wind. Male and female flowers sit on separate trees; females carry purple-black fruit that birds take quickly. Useful where quick canopy is wanted on poor sandy soil.
