Jojoba

Simmondsia chinensis

Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis)

A leathery gray-green evergreen whose seeds yield the famous liquid wax 'jojoba oil.' Tough, long-lived, and an excellent waterwise hedge or screen. The seed (jojoba) has been parched and eaten, or made into a coffee-like drink — distinct from the cosmetic oil most people know it for.
