Redwood Inside-out Flower
Vancouveria planipetala
An evergreen redwood-forest groundcover spreading slowly by rhizome into a low mat of leathery, scallop-edged leaflets on wiry black stems. Sprays of tiny white flowers with sharply reflexed petals hover above in late spring. One of the few reliable evergreen carpets for deep dry shade under conifers.
