Beaked Yucca

Yucca rostrata

A trunk-forming yucca topped with a near-perfect sphere of fine powder-blue leaves, and the reason it has become a fixture of modern xeric design. Old leaves persist as a shaggy skirt unless stripped. Cold-hardy well beyond its desert origin given sharp drainage; in the US it is genuinely native only to a small area of Trans-Pecos Texas.
