Princess Pine
Dendrolycopodium obscurum
Ground pine — each shoot a miniature conifer a few inches tall, rising from a runner that travels underground through the leaf litter. A whole colony is often one plant. Wants cool acidic shade and undisturbed humus; historically stripped for Christmas greenery, so it should only ever be bought nursery-grown.
