Lobb's Buckwheat
Eriogonum lobbii
A flat rosette of round woolly grey leaves sends out prostrate stalks that end in domed heads of cream flowers ageing to deep rose — the whole plant hugging the ground like something arranged. A high-elevation Sierra species and a prize for trough and rock gardens, demanding perfect drainage and no coddling.
