Pineleaf Penstemon
Penstemon pinifolius
A dwarf shrubby penstemon with needle-fine evergreen foliage and narrow scarlet tubes that hummingbirds work all summer. Far longer-lived in gardens than most penstemons and hardy well beyond its Southwestern range, provided the drainage is sharp. 'Mersea Yellow' and 'Compactum' are the common selections.
