Long Beech Fern

Long beech fern spreads by thin creeping rhizomes into open colonies of delicate triangular fronds, the lowest pair of leaflets angled sharply downward like drooping shoulders — the quickest way to name it. Wants cool, damp, acid shade on rock ledges or streambanks and dislikes heat.
