Spotted Mandarin
Prosartes maculata
Nodding bells of creamy white heavily speckled with purple hang beneath the arching branch tips, easy to miss unless you lift the stem. A rare and local Appalachian woodlander, hairy-leaved and slow to increase. Long catalogued as Disporum maculatum. Wants deep cool leaf mould and undisturbed shade.
