Snow Queen

Snow queen opens short racemes of blue-violet bells in the first mild weeks of the year, often while the woods are still bare, above rounded kidney-shaped evergreen leaves. A small, well-mannered plant for humus-rich shade in the Pacific Northwest, spreading gently without ever becoming a nuisance.
