Showy Lady's Slipper
Cypripedium reginae
The largest and showiest native lady's slipper: a white-petaled orchid with a rose-pink pouch, held above broad pleated leaves. Minnesota's state flower. A plant of sunny calcareous fens, so it wants wet, alkaline, permanently moist ground and more light than most woodland orchids. Foliage can irritate skin.
