Lechuguilla

Agave lechuguilla

Lechuguilla (Agave lechuguilla)

Lechuguilla is the signature agave of the Chihuahuan Desert, forming spiny blue-green rosettes that send up a tall yellow flower spike once before dying. Tough architectural form for hot, rocky gardens. The mineral-rich liquid stored in its flowering stalks is traditionally collected as a drink, sold in Mexico as a natural sports drink.
